Strychnos started back in 1997 and released a demo tape, followed by a 7″ EP “Terror lies Within” on the Danish label Horror Records. The vision was, and still is, to create extreme metal music without considering classifications of genres and to have the boundaries of Death Metal, Heavy Metal and Black Metal merged seamlessly together. The band disbanded in 2002 and relocated to Copenhagen to ascend again in 2005. The second run culminated in two releases in 2011: The mini album “Undead Unsouls Unbound” (on German FDA Records and Danish Deadbangers Productions) and the anthology 12″ LP “Lessons in terror” released by the German label Kneel Before the Master’s Throne Records. The band then went through another several year long hiatus. Since 2017 the band has been active again and in the spring of 2021 Strychnos finally entered Ballade Studios in Copenhagen to record their first full length album. The debut “A Mother’s Curse” was released through Dark Descent Records (USA) November 4th 2022 and has received praise from all possible angles – from being awarded album of the year in several Danish medias to being picked amongst November’s best releases on BandCamp. Now, a fully active entity Strychnos is more hungry than ever – ready to play several shows in 2023, both domestically and abroad. The band re-enters Ballade Studios in February 2023 to record the follow up.
