Purulency is a death metal band formed in December 2018 in Kingsport, Tennessee. The band crafts a sound that evokes the raw, ominous energy of legendary acts from the classic Finnish and Swedish death metal scenes. Their music is characterized by crushing riffs, haunting atmospheres, and an unrelenting dedication to the classic death metal ethos. In early 2024, Purulency released their debut demo, “Transcendent Unveiling of Dimensions”, a four-track offering. The demo saw cassette releases through Caligari Records and Morbid Cellar Records, as well as vinyl and CD releases through Pulverised Records, earning acclaim from critics and fans alike. Thematically, Purulency explores dark and esoteric subjects, weaving unsettling narratives of existential terror into their music. Their work not only pays homage to death metal’s storied past but also carves out its own identity within the genre, staying true to the classic sound while delivering it with their own uncompromising approach.
