Unearthed in central Germany in 2018, Nekus play a dark and harrowing style of death doom metal.
The band can now look back on several releases, including two full-length albums, the latest of which, Death Apophenia, was released in late 2024, once more via Sentient Ruin Laboratories.
From the very beginning, the abyssal, reverb-filled sound was intended as an homage to the New Zealandian/Australian strain of death metal, such as Grave Upheaval and Temple Nightside. Chaotic and deadly riffs, interwoven with slow, crushing episodes will haunt and torment the listener with no chance for rest.
Dealing with themes of unquiet afterlife and necromancy, the deep subterranean violence of Nekus will immerse you in an agonizing shroud, where the drowning of all light can be witnessed.
