Since 2005 Execration have carved their own niche in the death metal underground. They are rooted in early 90’s American death metal – but with something twisted and slightly psychedelic added to the mix. Hard-hitting and varied – dynamic, yet uncompromising, and always evolving their sound. After establishing their sound on the EP “Language of the Dead” (2006) and first album “Syndicate of Lethargy” (2007), the band took a turn for the more obscure on their widely acclaimed “Odes of the Occult” (2011), released on Duplicate Records (Einar Sjursø/Virus). Three years later, the band turned away from down-tuned obscurity and delivered what many consider to be a modern classic, “Morbid Dimensions” – a progressive mix of psychedelic and epic death, doom and black Metal. In 2017, “Return to the Void” – their most compact album to date – was released on Metal Blade. A whirlwind of thrash, death, black – and even heavy metal, it offers frequent changes in mood, tempo, and atmosphere, just as we’d come to expect. In 2025, Execration is hard at work on their first new album in 8 years, and they’re returning Kill-town to celebrate 20 years of twisted Norwegian death metal by performing a special set focused on two of their most acclaimed albums, “Odes of the Occult” and “Morbid Dimensions”.
