In 2025 Canada’s Antediluvian re-emerges from the primordial ooze with their first live performances in Europe since 2019, and worldwide since 2022. Their current live set will be comprised of several never played before songs, from the various eras of the band’s existence. Expect the unexpected, as each appearance of the band becomes more distinct and distorted than the previous. Quantum abominations abound! Antediluvian is a Canadian extreme metal band formed in 2006, initially based in Guelph, Ontario, before relocating to Edmonton, Alberta. The band’s name refers to the period before the biblical flood, reflecting their thematic focus on chaos, occultism, prehistory, destruction, philosophy, and quantum physics. The founding members, guitarist/vocalist Haasiophis and drummer Mars Sekhmet, have been the core of the band since its inception. In 2012 , Antediluvian expanded their lineup by welcoming Aedh Zugna, contributing the second guitar track on the λόγος album. Aedh has a rich history contributing to various projects over the years and has contributed significantly to the evolving sound of Antediluvian. He played bass on the 2020 split release Defleshing the Serpent Infinity and the 2021 full-length album The Divine Punishment. Over the years, Antediluvian has been recognized for their prolific output, releasing numerous demos, EPs, and split albums. Their debut full-length album, Through the Cervix of Hawaah, was released in 2011, followed by λόγος in 2013. After an eight-year hiatus, they returned with The Divine Punishment in 2021. Antediluvian’s music is characterized by a blend of dissonant elements and strange time signatures, creating a sound that is both chaotic and atmospheric. Their work has been described as ritualized, hallucinogenic, intergalactic, and xeno-bestial, utilizing an alien array of effects to add a spacey aura to their sound. This sense of otherness is compounded by their ghastly stage appearance and the abstract projections they use for live performances. Guitarist vocalist Haasiophis has discussed the band’s thematic focus, stating, Our music delves into the primordial chaos and the esoteric aspects of prehistory, aiming to evoke a sense of the unknown and the forbidden. Mars Sekhmet added, We strive to create an atmosphere that is both suffocating and liberating, challenging the listener to confront the depths of their own consciousness. Throughout their career, Antediluvian has maintained a commitment to pushing the boundaries of extreme metal, both musically and thematically. Their work continues to challenge and engage listeners, solidifying their legacy as avant garde underground trailblazers.
